Are you a Hero or a Villain?

Ah! The movies! ..Where everythings sooo Black and White. There’s this scary looking weirdo who just wants to destroy the whole damn world and eradicate every living soul. And not only does he look creepy, he sounds creepy, he dresses creepy, he laughs creepy.. He’s the whole package. His whole image shouts: “I AM THE BAD GUY!” and then there’s this charmin’ fella; good with the ladies, gentle with the elderly, nice with the kids, all in all loves the whole damn world. And that’s the ‘Preset’ that guides the people. So every time you catch a hint of any one of these 'qualities', you know right away; there’s your good guy and there’s your villain!

In reality, unfortunately, it’s not that simple. There could easily be a person who looks creepy but is an innocent nerd, or for that matter a handsome serial killer. So that rules out judging by the physical appearances. But it gets more complicated, even when it comes to deeds, there could easily be a conflict. A perfectly normal hardworking social individual in public could be an abnormal wife-beating child-abusing freak at home. Our mind computes a person’s pros and cons and decides how we interpret a person in general. We don’t actually have to sit down a make a list of likes and dislikes to arrive at the result. Our brain constantly observes and interprets a person’s actions and we develop our opinion of that person automatically. But so is not the case with our own selves. Regardless of your actions, deep down inside, you are the hero of your fantasy of a life. No matter what you do or say, you are the ‘good guy’. Any rational non-psycho individual does not act unreasonably. Even a killer believes his actions are justified. That’s the principle reason we do what we do, because we believe in the cause of our actions to be righteous, if not absolutely right. But it is possible, as may have been evident many times in the past, what you believe to be ‘the right thing to do’ could actually be wrong. So apart from your own opinion of yourself, what are you really? Are you the dashing charming hero or the sick freaky villain?

Well, realistically speaking there is no hero or villain in today’s age and time. Being either isn’t about a bunch of do’s and don’ts. It’s much more complicated. We aren’t saints, no ones that pure, and we aren’t devils, we aren’t that evil either. So technically we are neither. We are just ordinary people under extraordinary pressure who are just trying to make it in this cold world. Some are good by chance and some are bad by shit-ass-luck. So the only thing that’s original and not affected by the external factors is our intentions within. If your life reeks of evil, taking the high road and doing good for once would make you a hero in that moment. If your life is a series of good deeds, abstaining from evil when its toughest would make you a hero in that moment. When all is said and done we are all heroes for something we did that was tough but the right thing to do and we are all villains for taking the easy road and committing a selfish act. So whatever it is; is momentary. Generally speaking we do more bad than we do good, so for most of us it’s about redemption; Redeeming ourselves with a final act of selflessness.

So for those flying high take off the hypothetical medals off your chest, and join everyone else in reality. And those under a villainous impression of themselves, take it easy.. Life is a testy bitch, it will test u time and again, maybe one day you will surprise yourself..
